Father of the Bride

One of the most special moments of your wedding day will be the moment that the person giving you away, sees you in your dress for the first time. It is full of emotion, and there is rarely a dry eye in the room! I am privileged to be able to witness this, especially if the bride is getting ready on-site, as it is my role to escort them up to see you.

No matter who is 'giving you away' or how you arrive at your venue, I will greet you and your wedding party, and run through what happens and when so that everyone feels more relaxed about the proceedings. I will make sure you are comfortable about which arm they will be holding, what happens when you reach the front, I encourage a kiss before they give your hand to your partner (it is a lovely moment to enjoy, and is a wonderful photo opportunity too!), and where bridesmaids will be sitting or standing. Once I have given my welcoming address, I will ask who is here today that gives your hand in marriage to your partner, and they will stand and announce "I do", and re-take their seat. Part of my job is to orchestrate and choreograph things, and so I provide prompts for musicians and those doing readings, and guide you into position if you are wanting to face your guests. I believe that when it comes to the day, nerves can set in, emotions are running high, and so to have someone that can ensure it all runs smoothly is an absolute must.

The benefits of having a celebrant-led ceremony are not all widely known, but this image shows me supporting a key member of the wedding party - the father of the bride. I made sure he knew what was about to happen, was patient and sensitive when he needed to shed a few tears, and I offered support at emotional times just as he was about to see his beautiful daughter in her dress. This is a picture that reminds me just why I do what I do.

When you book with Knight Ceremonies, you can rest assured knowing that you will be looked after, and can relax and enjoy your day.
