Dream Wedding Venues past, Present and Future!

As a celebrant, I am fortunate enough to be able to work at an abundance of beautiful venues, and regularly conduct ceremonies outdoors, but I was interested (and to be honest, quite excited) to read recently that there has been a shift in preference from traditional locations, to the more flexible, and quirky settings. Couples are using inspirational venues, ones that reflect them and their lifestyle, rather than just opting for the obvious choice that is available to them.

A recent wedding industry poll on Dream Venues, revealed that the traditional church comes in fourth place at 17%, followed by the stately home or manor house with 20% of couples choosing this for their wedding. In second place is a festival/tipi/yurt wedding with a staggering 25%, and the winner, is the rustic barn with 38% of votes.

The barn is extremely popular amongst my lovely couples, and will continue to be so, but I feel the outdoor and lakeside settings with temporary structures in situ, will become more and more popular in the coming year or two. Predictions for the near future also suggest that the industrial wedding scene is on the rise, and so warehouses and gallery spaces are being tipped to be the venue of choice for both luxury and DIY couples, as they provide a blank canvas that can be embellished to suit each bride and groom.

I look forward to seeing which styles of venue emerge as future 'on-trend' settings, and indeed hope to work at many of them over the coming years.
